![]() Rdr2 pushes the limits of what is possible on the PS4 and XB1, just like GtaV did on the 3 and 360. the framerate drops significantly, the console sounds like a jet engine, you name it. You can see this especially in areas like valentine or saint denis. Rockstar has already pushed the limits of the 8th gen consoles with rdr2. I think the game would be held back if it were to release on current gen. I'm NOT saying I want GTA VI to be released on the current generation of consoles! In fact I want the opposite. What do you guys think about this? I love that they put 100% into the development of their games, but I just feel that one game per generation of consoles is kinda lazy tbh, especially when you consider how much they have earned from their games over the years. RDR2! Red Dead was proof of what R* can do with current gen hardware.Īnyway, my point is that R* have essentially only made one game for this generation, and as you can see the amount of games they release has been decreasing in recent years. GTA V and Online are SUPPORTED on current gen, but they were not made for current gen, and that is very clear if you compare it to any true current gen game in terms of performance and graphics e.g. ![]() The changes in direction led to 100-hour work weeks for the game’s writing team and “months worth of 55-to-60-hour weeks,” according to Kotaku.I don't know how to feel about this, I think a large AAA developer should aim to put out at least 2 games per generation.Ġ2' Grand Theft Auto Vice City - PS2 & XboxĠ4' Grand Theft Auto San Andreas - PS2 & XboxĠ5' GTA: Liberty City Stories - PS2 & PSPĠ9' GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony - Expansionġ3' Grand Theft Auto Online - Online Expansionġ8' Read Dead Redemption 2 - PS4 & Xbox OneĪs you can see, between 2013 (GTA V release) and the potential release date of GTA IV the only game Rockstar has released FOR the current generation of consoles is RDR2, and before people say that GTA V is current gen.It isn't! I play GTA San Andreas on current gen consoles, that doesn't make it a current gen game! The studio’s last game was 2018’s masterful Red Dead Redemption 2, which took eight years to develop, a long and exhausting production cycle that Kotaku suggests was a result of the “last-minute rewrites and overhauls” by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, who left the company in February. Rockstar could be aiming to create a new GTA that has the staying power of GTA 5, which was released in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and has remained a best-seller through two console generations.ĭon’t expect to see the game any time soon, though. ![]() The mode started as a more barebones experience set in the game’s massive map and has since been expanded through a mix of big expansions and smaller weekly updates that add new challenges, missions, and items.
